Building cases from the earliest stage.

I am a senior barrister practising from 5 King's Bench Walk, one of the country's leading criminal sets. Before coming to the Bar, I worked for many years as a solicitor and now have 30 years of experience in the field.

Personal statement

As a result, I have expertise in building cases from the earliest stage and representing defendants in the most sensitive and complex criminal trials. I have broad experience of gross-negligence manslaughter, serious violence, grave sexual, and large drug cases.

I accept both private and publicly funded instructions. In privately funded cases I encourage an honest discussion of likely fees and will reach an agreed fee in most cases.

The method

Building cases as part of a team.

Rather unusually, I am a senior advocate with a strong grounding in criminal litigation, gained through years of work as a solicitor.

How I work

In his own words

Many defendants speak of the confidence gained from my careful preparation, calm demeanour, and command of the court.

Clients benefit from a close working relationship between counsel and solicitor, with timely advice, strategic positioning and excellent trial preparation placing them in the best possible position to win.

Three stages

01

Early analysis

My approach is to provide a broad analysis of the case at an early stage.

02

Working with the solicitor

I like to assist solicitors with the process of taking instructions, drafting applications, and making requests of the prosecution.

03

Pressure before trial

This method ensures we are ahead of any court deadlines and in a position to place opponents under pressure as the trial approaches.
